Academic Institutions - Fazlani L’Academie Globale, Mazgaon, Mumbai

Fazlani L’Academie Globale (FLAG) is an International School located at Mazgaon, Mumbai. It is a school where the citizens of the future are being trained, developed, groomed and encouraged to think, explore and discover new world for themselves.

The Mission is “To educate and nurture each child into a responsible, global citizen in a warm and caring community that fosters excellence, responsibility and love for life-long learning.”

At FLAG more is learnt outside the classroom than within it through field trips, case studies, CAS Camps, community and service projects and an enriching extra-curricular program.

Achievements of FLAG:
• It is the 1st School in India to organize a Model United Nations (MUN) in its first year of operation.

• Shalin Shah of grade 8th won an award on his design from Microsoft, UK.

• Taki Kumar Ranka, grade 9th stood 3rd in the All India Final of the French Idol competitions at Hyderabad.

The extraordinary passion and commitment of students who gave their time, love, affection and part of themselves for the cause of the community is one of the key aspects of the student’s learning process. Each of them had something significant to contribute to the CAS (Creativity, Action & Service). Their participation brings out in them perseverance, self confidence, a degree of humility, responsibility , commitment ,an ethical appreciation of humanitarian and environmental issues and make them better global citizens. Some of the CAS activities which were held at FLAG are mentioned below:

Help Age India: An NGO that works for the grey population of our country, were invited to Fazlani with around 40 senior citizens. Our children’s aim was to share moments of happiness with them keeping the Festival of Diwali in mind.We organized activities like housie, dancing and arranged lunch for them too. At the end of the function, a box of sweets was given to each of them. Our students joined hands to make this a memorable moment for them. (Wed 27th Oct 2011)

Childrens Day: Fun n fair organized by the CAS students. Complete planning of games, stalls, décor, posters, duty lists were arranged by them. This activity was a great success as students from 5th grade upwards attended this fair and had a time of their lives. (Sat 20th Nov 2011)

Project Chirag: A youth initiative to light up thousands of rural houses in India. This was one of our biggest challenges this term. To buy solar powered equipment our students organized a canteen day. On this day the students organized food from their homes and sold it to the other school children for Rs 50/- each per plate. They collected around 35,000/- but needed more funds as they had taken up a challenge to light up at least 30 to 35 houses in Vikramghad Kotilpada. The grade 12 students made a power point presentation to the parents of the students. The response was overwhelming and helped achieve the target of lighting up 35 houses. The execution of this project happened on Monday 24th Feb 2011.This was one challenge which the CAS students had worked really hard for …..An experience which will remain with them life long.

Terry Fox: A teenager diagnosed with bone cancer had to get his leg above the knee amputated. Seeing other cancer patients suffer he decided to raise money for Cancer research, by running across Canada. An Annual Terry Fox run sprang up in many cities. In Mumbai it was held on 27th Feb 2011. For the same cause FLAG students ran the entire Marine Lines.

Mumbai Mobile Crèche: Young children and their working mothers are one of the most vulnerable sections living in poverty in India today. While the adults toil, young children suffer as they are neglected and the older ones bear the responsibility of adult chores. The CAS participants took the initiative and planned 6 sessions every Thursdays with these children to give them basic computer knowledge. These sessions had started from Thursday 7th July 2011 and ended on Thursday 11th August 2011.
